The Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko, AAUA, Ondo State, has been shut.
This is following the protest by students over the decision of the management to enforce ‘no payment of tuition, no test/no examination’ policy.
Mouthpiece NG learnt that protest broke out on Wednesday as the students kicked against the school authorities decision to enforce "No School Fees, No Test / Examination"
The school management had announced on Tuesday to bar defaulters from writing continuous assessment.
Our correspondent reports that the university had issued a release in March 2019 stating that students who are yet to pay their school fees would be charged additional N10,000 for late registration, and whoever did not register would not be allowed to write first semester 2018 2019 test and examination.
A development which many of the students described as an anti-poor policy, was also described as a deliberate attempt to flush student out of school.
Speaking with Mouthpiece NG, a student who simply identified his name as Williams explained that, “they (management) shut out most students who have not paid or balance their fees from writing this test.
“It is nothing but pure wickedness.
“They're some of us whose parents don't have the financial strength or paying the fees at once. It's just unfair.
Another student also hinted that "the management ought to outline modalities or make the fee convenient for students."
Titi stressed that, "Even in some private universities, there are ways it's done that it won't be cumbersome for parents and students.
"Probably, the plan of the state government is to deprive us or university education," she said.
The management of the institution, however, had directed all students to proceed on mid-semester break.
