The leadership of the Zenith Labor Party (ZLP), Oyo state, has again called on Governor Seyi Makinde to Honor Coalition agreement entered during the March 9, 2019 Gubernatorial election which ensured his victory at the poll.
The party in a statement made available to Mouthpiece NG on Friday said “An agreement was entered to on what the benefit of each political party will be as its reward.
According to the statement, Zenith Labour Party is yet to be rewarded with any position in the present Government of Oyo State which the party supported with its financial and human resources during the election.
The party admonished the Governor to honour the Coalition Agreement that brought him into the power concerning what is due to the party in line with International Law Maxim ' 'PACTA SUNT SERVANDA'.
The statement read: “The Leadership of the Zenith Labour Party, Oyo State welcomes the teeming members of the party to the year 2020. The party sends special greetings to the Osi Olubadan of Ibadanland - High Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja and the Ekefa Balogun of Ibadanland - Chief Sharafaden Abiodun Alli for their steadfastness and outstanding leadership skills being used in paddling the canoe of the party since its inception in Oyo State.”
“The party leadership hereby appeal to the entire members of the great party to continue to be patient and remain committed to the party as the rewards for their being loyal to the coalition that brought the present Government in Oyo State into the power is just around the corner.
“Also, while congratulating Governor Seyi Makinde on the victory at Supreme Court on the December 18, 2019, his 52nd birthday on December 25, 2019 and the 2020 new year celebration, the party admonishes the Governor to honour the Coalition Agreement that brought him into the power concerning what is due to the Zenith Labour Party in line with International Law Maxim ' 'PACTA SUNT SERVANDA'.
*The Latin phrase 'PACTA SUNT SERVANDA' which may be translated as ' TREATIES SHALL BE COMPLIED WITH'* describes a significant general principle of International Law - one that underlies the entire system of treaty-based relations between sovereign states.
“It will be recalled that independent political parties entered into a Coalition agreement to support Governor Seyi Makinde during the March 9, 2019 Gubernatorial election which ensured his victory at the poll. An agreement was entered to on what the benefit of each political party will be as its reward.
“It is on record that despite being loyal to the Coalition Agreement before, during and after the election, Zenith Labour Party is yet to be rewarded with any position in the present Government of Oyo State which the party supported with its financial and human resources during the election.
@ZLP believes that Governor Seyi Makinde being a good Christian and 'Omoluabi' will keep his end of the bargain and reward Zenith Labour Party very soon.
